Our staff has developed a unique hands on learning approach to help the beginner butcher all the way to honing skill of a seasoned veteran or building the knowledge of a producer. Bear Mountain Beef is here to support your learning journey and tailor courses to fit all needs!  We offer flexible options for 3 day crash courses, 2 week focused courses and 4 week in depth courses. Our goal is to provided a hands on, real life, high quality training experience for all.  Spend time learning in the harvest floor, cut & wrap and all of the extra areas of a small meat processing plant.

Spend 2-4 weeks learning all about harvesting animals.

This 2-week course provides an overview of USDA requirements for the harvest floor. Includes: filling out paperwork, stunning animals via captive bolt gun, skinning, gutting, trimming, USDA carcass inspection, carcass rapid chill preparation, end-of-day cleaning and next-day prep

About Us

Bear Mountain Beef Butcher School was born from a collaborative team effort to pass on the knowledge and skills of the art of cutting meat.  Opened in 2021, Bear Mountain Beef was focused on getting shop set up and starting to process animals for our local community.  Our main goal was to provide a stable food chain and better access to quality processing in rural Wyoming.  After accomplishing this, our team has moved on toward the passion of training others in our field.  The owners along with a wonderful supportive staff have created a customizable experience for those enrolling in courses to be able to have hands on working experience next to a one on one coach.  We will help you focus on anything from starting an a brand new operation to honing skills in one particular area.  

When you enroll you will receive a text book created by our staff and customized to our specially crafted learning experience.  Once your training is complete you will also receive access to an online library of video to help you refresh your knowledge at anytime you need!
